Freelance graphic and industrial designer, illustrator, consultant, custom builder, and apparel engineer. Conceive and nurture creative and exciting solutions for clients in a wide range of industries. In House Independent Consultant / Graphic Designer / Illustrator
Supplemented the in house art team during inflated work loads, in order to develop cutting edge graphic solutions for the young men’s and junior’s apparel lines. Responsibilities included: researching trends to co-build seasonal art direction with the Art Director, Merchandisers, and the Art Team. Designing logos and word marks to support Hurley’s in-line and SMU printables programs. Working with own artistic skill as well as freelance and production artists to design or render original artwork for tees, fleece and board-shorts, as well as rendering cads for approval process. Also designing label / trim packs and color cards to ensure consistency with Hurley’s sportswear line. Responsibilities also included collaborating with third party entities like Nike, USC, Disney, and the US Open of Surfing to create unique art and apparel solutions for movie, event, and lifestyle markets.

LA JOLLA GROUP / RUSTY SURF APPAREL September 2007 to March 2009

Graphic Designer / Illustrator / Product Developer
Worked with one other person to co-design / develop and apply all graphics for the Rusty printables program, which included a multi-tier blank T-shirt program, as well as cut and sew shirts and fleece. Responsibilities included: researching trends to build seasonal art direction, color stories and inspiration boards, designing all logos and word marks to support printables and sportswear. Co-designing label / trim packs and color cards to ensure consistency with Rusty sportswear line. Working with own artistic skill as well as freelance and production artists to render original artwork for tees, fleece and board-shorts. Rendering cads for approval process. Constructing tech packs to ensure maximum accuracy of finished product. Sourcing of all blanks. Checking pricing to confirm profit margin. Press checking and approving all sales samples. Preparing all printables cads and art for catalog layouts. Co-responsibilities also included all printables product development, including managing all aspects of Full Circle for the Rusty printables program and master entries of all printables styles for each season (including SMUs). Writing production orders for all blanks, labels, trims and sales samples. Additional development responsibilities included research and sourcing of new screening materials, applications, and treatments. Scheduling the printing of sales samples, sales sample coordination and production hand-overs. Additional art responsibilities included supporting the marketing department with art and concepts for ads, point of purchase displays, and various other promotional materials.

Assistant Apparel Designer
Assisted with all aspects of designing this high-end streetwear line, including: researching seasonal trends, line planning, constructing concept boards, building color stories, designing and developing trim packs, developing fabric pitches, rendering and revising cads for a wide variety of garments, engineering repeats, color ups, building tech packs, and communicating with vendors to fine tune samples. Additional graphic design responsibilities included preparing art and cads for catalog.

EVENT PLANNER / PROMOTER 2000 to 2006

Independently conceived, planned and managed events to promote under-represented local and regional artists and musicians. Oversaw all aspects of creating, promoting and executing events including scheduling, financing, marketing, graphic design, and street-team management. Booked some of the nation’s best underground hip hop acts including Granola Funk Express, Crown City Rockers, Heiruspecs, Antedote, Planet Asia, Jean Grae, Shape Shifters, and Two Mex. Both, Miles “El Mac” Mcgregor and Adam “Dumper Foo” Dumper are classic examples of early guests of the program that went on to be internationally recognized for their art.

Provided individualized training for snowboard and ski students at widely varying skill levels for Snowbowl’s Learn to Ride Program. Gained professional certifications through AASI and PSIA, for snowboard and ski education. Developed a thorough understanding of the wants and needs of a diverse variety of resort clientele.

Functioned as staff supervisor and trainer, facilitated all aspects of guest / instructor interaction and individual instructor assignments. Interviewed and hired new staff in addition to managing payroll, scheduling, employee assessment and various other documentation functions.
